MP3 blog 2014/02/12

blog 2014/02/12- yes, good job, you did it, now again.

The chime signals your arbitrary reward:  http://thetastates.com/mp3s/blog/blog20140212.zip

Beyoncé - Superpower ft Frank Ocean:  All the glory.

Califone - The Orchids:  The best Califone songs spin a tapestry around me.  A tapestry I wrap around myself.  OK, I just snuggle under blankets with them.

Cepia - Ithaca:  From the 2008 album Ghostly Swim, the sounds remind of

Cuff The Duke - Cold Blooded Old Times (Smog cover)
Cuff The Duke - Diamond Sea (Sonic Youth cover):  The whole of it doesn't entice me, but these two covers from In Our Time are 2 of my favourite songs ever, and I always want a good go at them.

DC Zee - Whirlwind Booty:  BOOTY BOOTY BOOTY BOOTY

Marble - L.L (Ta-ku Remix):  Ta-ku rocks my breakbeat world oh so much.

Mississippi Fred Mcdowell - John Henry (live):  A great track from the classic Live At the Gaslight from 2000, which ended up being his final performance.

Mouse On Mars - Vax:  WOW is an awkwa\rd assemblage of beats that works itself out like a psychedelic mixtape.

Philip Glass - Knee 1 (Nosaj Thing Remix)
Philip Glass - Music in Twelve Parts, Part 1 (My Great Ghost Remix):  I really enjoy the Rework: Philip Glass Remixed album, and you just might too.  Do you enjoy Philip Glass?  Do you enjoy contemporary electronic beat producers?  If you answered yes to both of those questions, it's really hard to ignore this release.  If you said no to either, then shuffle along.  The album isn't a perfect whole, but it's up there with the Tortoise remixes album from a decade ago in terms of an important body of work being interpreted in such a way that reveals a pulse-taking of today's producers.  Recommended.

Ryan Teague - Cell Cycle
Ryan Teague - Games for Two
Ryan Teague - Tetramery:  If you enjoy the classic pulsings of Glass you might also really love this Teague album Field Drawings.  The 21st century rhythmic practices are all over these compositions.  Recommended.

Sleepyhead - My Lyf:  The skittery footwerk scene only brings me in when I feel like it's tied my brain in to knots like an oldschool U-Ziq track, and this one pulls on that for sure.

St. Lucia - All Eyes On You (Pacific Air Remix):  This comes together so simply, but it's all the pop ecstasy you demand.

Tul-Pa - Dazed:  I wanna be sedated and this is what I will count away with.

Wild Ones - Paia (My Body Remix):  A track after my own heart.

Zelda - Link's Awakening Sword Search (Janski Beeeats Remix):  More gamer-core betas and HEY, did you know they made Zelda games on systems other than the NES?  Huh, the more you know…
